Hutt Valley Canoe Club (HVCC) has secured funding from the Mangahao fund (https://whitewater.nz/resources/mangahao- fund/) for a River Rescue course for HVCC and VUCC members. New Zealand Kayak School are coming to Wellington September 9-10 to deliver a bespoke River Rescue course at a reduced cost to both kayakers and packrafters. This funding ($7500) has been used to subsidise (but does not fully cover) the cost of this course for members. It is targeted as a level of paddlers who are working towards becoming capable instructors – to increase their understanding of paddling safety. The additional cost for the course will be covered by the participants.
