Event details

We will promote our events using word of mouth, our social media channels, and where relevant, with the Wellington International Leadership Programme. Careers in Development Panel – will help students find out about different career pathways and the different ways they can use their degrees, as well as finding out how to get experience in the development sector. In 2019, this was a resounding success with over 150 students registering to attend. This event is confirmed for the 28th of April. Funding will cover koha and a replacement banner (as our current one is currently broken). Monthly Catch Ups – monthly events beginning in Week 7 which enable students to interact and meet with other like-minded students, as well as engage in advocacy around different social justice issues such as signing petitions and writing Select Committee submissions. Funding cover will cover food for attendees. Quiz Night – providing a relaxed social atmosphere for students to socialise with each other. We are planning on hosting this event in Week 11. Funding will cover food for attendees, prizes and printing costs. Panel 2 – topic to be determined, but it will be centered on a social justice issue that students are passionate about to help raise awareness about the issue. This will occur in Trimester 2. Funding will cover koha. Panel 3 – topic to be determined, but it will be centered on a social justice issue that students are passionate about to help raise awareness about the issue. This will occur in Trimester 2. Funding will cover koha. Campaigns – we will be running these over the course of the year. In the past, we have had a longstanding involvement in campaigning for the university to become fair trade. This year we are planning to continue this advocacy, as well as advocating for a Modern Slavery Act as well as supporting VUWSA in their sustainability campaigns. Funding will cover the cost of materials, such as paint supplies for making banners. Trimester 2 Clubs Expo – we will have a stall, allowing students to meet the Exec, find out about our events and projects, and sign up as a member. Funding will cover food such as lollies to encourage people to join and thank them for doing so, and printing costs. AGM – Our AGM provides a forum to update students on the events we ran and the work we did over the course of the previous year. It also allows us to hear from our members and the community about what kind of events they would like us to be running. We will be hosting our AGM towards the end of Trimester 2. Funding will cover food for attendees.
