Event details

We promote our events on social media groups for law students, with posters, in lectures and through word of mouth. The dates for our events are currently uncertain as we have had to alter our plans due to trimester one being moved online. Event: Feminist Moot Date: Beginning Trimester 2 Total cost: $150 with sponsorship of $500 Other fundraising efforts: In 2019 we we received sponsorship of $500 from the College of Law which we expect to be able to receive again in 2020. Project details: Information evening. This evening helps the event by giving us the opportunity to explain to students the philosophy of the moot and what they can expect. Having some light refreshments available helps to encourage attendance. Moot rounds: we provide dinner for the judges which is standard at mooting competitions and helps to secure a high level of judging talent. Final: this is an event open to the public where students, family members and members of the faculty can watch the moot and observe the different way of advocating for clients and engaging in a legal dispute resolution that the feminist moot envisions. Event: Weekly Catch Ups Date: Weekly in person beginning trimester 2 Total cost: $65 Event: Feminist Election Debate Date: Tri 2 Total cost: $290 Event: Staff thank you Date: to be determined in Trimester 2 Entry charge: none Total cost: $40 Fundraising efforts: In 2019 we asked for donations for this event and we expect to do this again. As part of our focus on intersectional feminism it is important to VUWFLS to acknowledge the work of the non academic staff at the law school that can go unnoticed. We ran our first staff thank you last year and it was well received by students and the law faculty. Event: Intersectional Feminism Panel Date: to be determined, but in Trimester 2 Entry charge: none Total cost: $240 Event: VUWFLS AGM Date: to be determined but likely end of Tri 2 Total cost: $200
